TRIP TO THE OPAL COAST, FRANCE - 20th May - 24th May 2009
Information Update 16/01/2010

Dear All,

Just to confirm arrangements so far for our trip to the Opal Coast in May.  There will be a total of 12 cars and there is a list of  the participants below.

Ferries are now booked, and we can confirm that we will be leaving Dover at 1000 hours on the 20th May (check in time is at least 30 minutes before), and returning from Calais at 1610 hours on Monday 24th May, arriving in Dover at 1640 hours (local time).  Hopefully we will be able to all line up at the ferry terminal altogether so that we are all parked altogether on the ferry, probably on the lower deck because of the ground clearance of most of our cars.  We are planning to arrange a lunch in a hotel when we arrive in France approximately 8 miles from Calais at Cap Blanc Nez, so that if we get split up we can all meet up there

We have got a really good rate for our stay at the Ramada Hotel in Dover on the night of the 19th May at a cost of £82.50 dinner bed and breakfast, per room.   Please settle this yourselves when you book out.

Hotel Clery is all confirmed as well, and we will let you have a detailed itinerary nearer the time.

Please don’t forget, we will require the balance of the monies (£750) by no later than Friday 19th March, but will send a reminder nearer the time.

Other reminders, most of which are required by French driving laws:

  1.  Arrange travel insurance (if you haven’t already got it) and European breakdown cover for your car.    Also make sure your insurance covers you for driving in Europe.
  2. Make sure your passports are up to date
  3. Vehicle documents to take with you: your driving licence (both parts), vehicle insurance certificate, vehicle registration document, current MOT certificate
  4. Hi-viz florescent jacket or vest  (one per person)
  5. Spare bulbs and fuses
  6. GB sticker
  7. Warning triangle
  8. Headlight beam converters (although we don’t usually bother and we are unlikely to be driving at night)
  9. First aid kit

If you have any other queries, please let us know.

Best wishes,

Phil and Sue
