My friend Joss Davenport has helped me greatly in restoring my Junior E-type to replicate as near as possible my V12 E-type.
I originally purchased the Junior E back in 1989 for my two young children, Samantha and Ashley. At that time I had two E-types, the yellow OTS, GGB 178N which I still have and the White FHC which I have since sold.

The colour of the car was originally white and the registration number I used then was SAY 1 (Samantha & Ashley Young). They learnt, at the ages of six and four, how to drive a car with clutch and gears, albeit only two forward and one reverse. When they became too big to drive the car, I put it out on loan to Webbers Jaguar, Basinqstoke, where it was on display in their showroom for many years. Webbers recently sold out to Harwood's and moved to a new showroom, so I took the car back from them just before Christmas. It was in a bit of a sorry state and my wife loved the little car so much, she insisted that I restore it to its original glory.

I knew that Joss Davenport would love to see the car and, when I took him along to help me collect it, he became eager to get his experienced hands on it as a restoration job. Joss is well known as an expert on and owner driver of both an XK 120 and an XK 150. He began stripping the Junior E-type before I could blink and he has worked on the restoration at his home near Newbury with a little help from me. We have tried to replicate, as near as possible, my Primrose Yellow V12 E-type which I have had since July 1990 (I've actually owned the Junior E for two years longer). The superb leather work on the seat was made by Phil Silk ot Newbury (01635 30094); the miniature number plate was supplied by Tippers of Rochford (01702 549830) and the brightwork was 'vacuum metallised' (chrome effect on plastic by VMC Ltd of Chertsey (01932 563434)

The Junior E is stunning and, as you will see from the attached photos, looks fantastic alongside its Mummy! I really think that, when the cars are known about and seen together, there will be interest for them to be used to display at various events, which I would be happy to do (I'll have to find a suitable
trailer).
