AGM and Wine Tasting 2010 |
|
In general AGM's are not the most inspiring of meetings. I would venture that the JDC Area 1 AGM is the exception. I would describe this gathering as a group of friends who enjoy each others company and the AGM is just another excuse to meet, undoubtedly influenced by the promise of the Wine Tasting to follow. |

The business end of the meeting was succinct and to the point. The accounts were approved and the election of officers and the committee returned unopposed. We are indeed fortunate in having great leadership from Mike Byng and strong financial governance from Sue Parkinson. They do much above and beyond the call of duty and work tirelessly on our behalf. Expressions of thanks from those present for the work they do are heartily endorsed by the whole of JDC Area 1. The meeting continued; There appeared to be no sign progress in the refurbishment Portal's Hall, consequently we have adopted a new venue for our monthly meetings, The George & Dragon at Wolverton , details can be found on the venue page. with our new venue approved tthe meeting continued to build the Area 1 diary for the next year At last Septembers meeting our Guest Speaker, John Hutchinson, presented us with a "Gold Leaper" ornament. At the October meeting it was decided to award the "Gold Leaper" on an annual basis to the member of the year. For 2010 your Webmaster is the proud recipient. |
