4th Annual January Lunch 17th Jan 2010 |
|
We returned again to the Jack Russell Inn at Faccombe for this years January lunch. This year the lunch was in danger of being cancelled after heavy snow and below freezing temperatures. Ashmansworth is the highest point in Hampshire and Faccombe is not much lower. High winds had caused drifting in the lanes around Ashmansworth all but cutting off the village and Faccombe. The weather relented and a thaw meant all roads were useable on the day. Thus on a cold January Sunday but in bright sunshine approximately 30 of us met to enjoy our lunch. Despite the chill wind, many a Jaguar made it up the hill but only one brave enough to do it with the top down. |

We were warmly greeted by by Simon & Liz and well looked after by them and their staff. It is always nice to meet our Jaguar friends and catch up with them after the Christmas and New Year Celebrations. The conservatory was big enough to accommodate us all and soon filled with the hubbub of joyous and excited conversation and laughter. The food? - Excellent. |
The January Lunch is characterised by the quiz hosted by our quizmaster, Phil Parkinson. The quiz never fails to entertain or tax the brain or prove somewhat frustnoying, at failing to answer an obvious question.." I should have known the answer to the character adopted by RoSPA in 1953 was a Fluffy red squirrel " Everybody knows Tufty! Doh. Likewise I thought that questions relating to 1865 road traffic act gave Joss Davenport and unfair advantage. Still it was all good fun and added to the enjoyment, Congratulations to the winners "Team Byng" This is always a great occasion, well organised by Sue and Phil Parkinson. Our thanks to them and the Staff of the Jack Russell for a great start to the JDC Area 1 year. |
